“ Be a reflection of what you would like to receive. If you want love, give love, if you want the truth, be truthful. If you want respect, give respect.-Native American quote-Unknown

I love people watching, and wondered about what they are thinking and what is going on in their busy little heads. I especially love people watching when I am on holiday. Sitting in a restaurant or a beachside cafe is fun and you may even, without realising it, categorise the people we are watching. Are they interesting, dull, boring, funny, exciting, how can we possibly know by looking at people and knowing nothing about them other than their facial expressions. Of course, there's more to it than their facial expressions what about what they are wearing, clothes shoes, hair long, short, no hair what is about these people that fascinates us?

Well, it may be that you just chilled out in holiday mode and watching the world go by and in turn watching people go by, and from my perspective that is it. However, I am sure people who people watch may make assumptions about the people they are watching and these assumptions can be right or potentially very wrong. As for me, that is pretty normal.

Many years ago in the 1980s, I was trying to find a tram/train to take me to the Port of Piraeus in Athens to catch a ferry to the islands. My friend and I tried to work out where the train station was so we decided to go into a cafe and have a beer and formulate our plan. 4 hours later and with a few beers drunk we finally sussed out the train station was literally across the road from the cafe we were in. In that 4 hours, we watched so many people and made so many conclusions on people, hopefully, all positive in my mind.

You know that's not true, not all positive thoughts about all the people we watched. You always paint a picture on someone immediately without really taking in anything about the person.

Judging someone on appearance is not OK. Doesn’t matter if it's height, weight, skin tone, or anything else. You shouldn’t judge a person by their exterior because you don’t know their story. There are hundreds of reasons someone might be dressed the way they are and mostly it's because they want to be dressed that way. People need to understand stop making negative comments or thoughts about others. If more people embraced their fellow human beings the world would be a whole lot better and a much happier place. Someone should never be looked down upon because of their outer appearance. They should be taken seriously, and they should be given the same respect as anybody else. Don’t judge a book by its cover, open up the book, learn more, and then make your decision.

I still love people-watching.
